Overview
The 40MT is a legacy heavy-duty straight-drive starter that served as the workhorse across major North American truck OEM platforms for decades, fitting Freightliner, International, Mack, Peterbilt, and Volvo applications. Available in 12V and 24V with SAE #3 mounting, many 40MT positions have been superseded in current production by the 42MT series, though the 40MT remains in widespread service and remanufactured units are actively stocked.
